Reissue 08/02 Directions To Be Observed By Damaged Vessels
- NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the following directions are issued to the Masters of vessels that have sustained damage outside the Dockyard Port of Portsmouth and the Port of Southampton and wish to enter either port area.
- The Master of a vessel sustaining damage which:
a.Affects or is likely to affect its seaworthiness, b.Allows or is likely to allow oil, dangerous or inflammable substances to escape from that vessel, must seek permission from the respective Harbour Master of the port area before entering the port limits. Such vessels are to wait outside the port limits until permission to enter is given by the relevant Harbour Master.
- Damaged vessels requesting permission to enter the Dockyard Port of Portsmouth should contact the Queens Harbour Master (Callsign QHM) on VHF Ch11 0r 13 or by telephoning 023 92 723694.
- Damaged vessels requesting permission to enter the Port of Southampton should contact the Harbour Master Southampton (Callsign Southampton VTS) on VHF Ch12 or by telephoning 023 80 339733.
- This notice is issued jointly by the Queen's Harbour Master Portsmouth, the Harbour Master Southampton and the Harbour Master Portsmouth Commercial Port.
